Why Coordinate Cabinets and Countertops Together

One Showroom. One Team. The Right Sequence.

Most kitchen remodel problems come from coordination failures between separate contractors working on separate schedules. Cabinets that arrive before countertop measurements are taken. Countertops ordered before cabinet heights are confirmed. Stone edges that do not match the cabinet rail reveal.

Because J&A Stone handles both cabinets and countertops, we manage the sequencing problem from the start. Cabinet selection happens at the same showroom visit as countertop selection. The installation timeline is planned so cabinets are fully set before countertop templating begins. Everything is coordinated by the same team under one scope of work.

Our Auburndale showroom carries door samples, finish boards, and hardware options from both our KCD and Tribeca lines. You can compare shaker, flat panel, raised panel, and inset profiles side by side against actual countertop slab samples. The decisions that affect how the finished kitchen looks together are made together, under real lighting, before anything is ordered.

Both cabinet lines are available at our Auburndale and Lakeland showrooms. If your project involves countertops and cabinets in the same renovation, one visit to either showroom covers both.

Installation sequencing matters: Cabinets go in first. Countertops are templated after cabinets are fully set and level. Flooring goes in last. Getting this sequence wrong is expensive to fix. We plan the full timeline before any work begins.

Cabinet Lines

KCD and Tribeca — What Sets Them Apart

We carry two semi-custom cabinet lines that cover the most requested styles, finishes, and construction standards across the range of kitchen and bathroom projects we handle in Polk County.

KCD Cabinets

KCD produces a full semi-custom cabinet line in a range of door styles, box constructions, and finish options. The line covers everyday residential kitchen and bathroom applications with consistent build quality and reasonable lead times.

KCD is available in framed and frameless construction depending on the door profile selected. The framed line is preferred for traditional and transitional styles. Frameless suits contemporary flat-panel and inset designs where full overlay coverage is desired.

Available door styles include shaker, raised panel, flat panel, and variations within each. Finish options cover painted, stained, and thermofoil in a wide palette. Hardware is specified separately. Visit our showroom to see the current sample door collection.

Tribeca Cabinets

Tribeca covers the contemporary end of our cabinet range, with a focus on clean profiles, full-overlay construction, and a finish palette that reads well in modern open-plan kitchens. If your countertop selection is quartz or porcelain slab in a solid or minimally veined pattern, Tribeca profiles tend to produce a more cohesive result than traditional raised panel options.

The Tribeca line is also our recommendation for bathroom vanities and utility cabinetry where a streamlined, lower-profile look is preferred over traditional furniture-style construction.

Door finishes in the Tribeca line include a curated range of painted solids and a selection of wood-grain thermofoil options that photograph well and hold up under Florida's cleaning demands. Compare samples in person at either showroom location.

Door Profiles & Construction

Choosing the Right Cabinet Style for Your Kitchen

Four profile categories cover the range of kitchen styles we work with across Polk County. Compare door samples at our showroom before committing to a full kitchen order.

Shaker

A five-piece door with a recessed center panel and flat rails. The most requested style in current residential kitchen design. Works in transitional, farmhouse, and modern applications depending on the finish and hardware selected. Available in both KCD and Tribeca lines.

Flat Panel

A single flat slab door with no interior framing. Produces the cleanest contemporary look and pairs naturally with quartz and porcelain countertops in minimalist designs. Frameless construction is standard for this profile. A common choice in new construction and modern renovations.

Raised Panel

A traditional five-piece door with a center panel that projects above the frame surface. The formal, furniture-style look associated with classic American kitchen design. Pairs with natural granite and marble countertops in traditional and Mediterranean-influenced homes. Available in the KCD framed line.

Inset

A door that sits flush inside the cabinet frame, creating a furniture-quality appearance with visible hinges. The most labor-intensive profile and the one that requires the most precise installation. A premium choice for clients who want the look of a custom-built piece of furniture rather than standard cabinetry.

The Installation Process

Cabinet Installation From Consultation to Completion

01
Showroom Consultation

Compare door profiles, finish boards, and hardware options at our Auburndale or Lakeland showroom. We recommend doing this alongside countertop selection so both decisions are made with both materials in view.

02
Kitchen Design & Layout

We work through your cabinet layout including upper and lower runs, pantry columns, island configurations, and any specialty storage. Cabinet dimensions are confirmed against your actual kitchen measurements before the order is placed.

03
Order & Production

Semi-custom cabinets have a production lead time. We confirm the timeline with you before ordering so you can plan adjacent trades, countertop templating, and flooring installation around the correct delivery window.

04
Delivery & Installation

Our installation crew sets all cabinet boxes, confirms level runs, installs doors and hardware, and completes all trim and filler pieces. The kitchen is left clean and ready for countertop templating.

05
Countertop Coordination

Once cabinets are fully set and level, we schedule the countertop templating visit. This is the correct sequence. Templating before cabinet installation is complete produces inaccurate measurements.

Cabinet Questions

What Homeowners Ask Before Ordering Cabinets

Semi-custom kitchen cabinet installation in Polk County typically ranges from $6,000 to $12,000 for a small kitchen, $10,000 to $22,000 for a medium kitchen, and $18,000 to $38,000 for a large kitchen, including cabinets and installation. These ranges reflect the KCD and Tribeca lines we carry. Custom cabinet pricing from other manufacturers varies significantly. Final pricing is confirmed after a design consultation and accurate kitchen measurement.
Semi-custom cabinets are manufactured in fixed dimensions but offer a wide range of door style, finish, and configuration choices within those dimensions. Custom cabinets are built to exact dimensions for specific spaces and can accommodate unusual layouts, non-standard ceiling heights, and design details that semi-custom sizes cannot address. For most standard kitchen layouts in Polk County homes, semi-custom cabinets from KCD and Tribeca deliver a high-quality result at a significantly lower cost than fully custom.
Cabinets always go in first. Countertop templating requires the cabinet boxes to be fully set and level before measurements are taken. Templating before cabinet installation is complete produces inaccurate cuts that will not fit correctly. If flooring is also part of the project, hard tile or stone flooring typically goes in before cabinets. LVP and laminate are typically installed after cabinets to avoid damage during cabinet installation. We plan the full sequence at the consultation stage.
A standard kitchen cabinet installation typically takes one to three days for the installation itself. The full project timeline from order placement to installation completion is longer due to the semi-custom production lead time, which varies by line and current manufacturer schedule. We confirm the specific lead time for your cabinet selection before the order is placed so you can plan the full kitchen renovation timeline accurately.
Yes. Both KCD and Tribeca lines include bathroom vanity configurations in standard and non-standard depths and widths. We coordinate vanity cabinet orders with bathroom countertop installation through the same process as kitchen projects. Vanity cabinets and countertops can be selected and specified in the same consultation visit.
Yes. J&A Stone is a Wisetack financing partner. Qualified homeowners can access financing from $500 to $25,000. Checking your options does not affect your credit score. 0% APR available for qualified consumers. Terms from 3 to 60 months. For a full kitchen renovation combining cabinets, countertops, and flooring, a single financing application covers the total project cost up to the $25,000 limit.
