Granite is an igneous rock formed under extreme heat and pressure. Its mix of quartz, feldspar, mica and trace minerals gives each slab its own color, pattern and crystal structure. That is why we pull full slabs for you to evaluate before any order is placed. We do not finalize an order from a sample chip or a website photo.
Granite is porous. We seal every granite countertop at installation and walk you through a resealing schedule, typically every 1 to 3 years depending on the stone and how heavily it is used. Unlike quartz, granite is UV stable, so it performs in Florida outdoor kitchens and lanais.

The mineral composition that creates the pattern varies from slab to slab within the same quarry lot. No catalog can replicate it.
Granite has no polymer resins to degrade in UV light, so it holds up in outdoor kitchens, lanais and covered areas with direct or reflected sun.
Hot pots, pans and baking sheets placed on the surface will not crack or discolor it. A trivet is still good practice.
Granite scores 6 to 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, so it resists scratching from knives, pots and everyday kitchen use.
Properly sealed and maintained granite lasts for decades. The stone does not degrade. The maintenance requirement is sealing, not replacement.

Visit our Auburndale showroom to review full slabs in person. You see the actual material that will be cut for your home before we place the order.
We take precise measurements at your home and confirm seam placement, cutout locations and edge profile so fabrication matches your actual space.
Your slab is cut, edged and finished at our Auburndale shop. Every cut is made by our own crew on our own equipment. No third-party fabricators.
Our crew delivers, sets and secures the countertop, handles sink cutouts, seam finishing and silicone at wall transitions, and cleans the worksite before leaving.
We seal your granite at installation and walk you through the sealing schedule for your specific stone.
Most granite countertops should be sealed every 1 to 3 years, depending on the porosity of the stone. Darker granites with tight mineral structures often need it less often than lighter, more porous stones. We seal every granite countertop we install and give you a recommendation for your material. The water bead test, where you check whether water beads or absorbs, tells you when resealing is due.
Use neutral cleaners, stone soap, or mild dishwashing detergent with warm water. Avoid acidic products like vinegar or lemon-based cleaners that may dull or etch certain stones.
We plan seams based on slab size, movement, cutouts and structural considerations, then confirm the layout during templating before any fabrication begins.
Yes. Granite is UV stable and handles Florida sun, heat and humidity without yellowing or discoloring. It is a solid choice for outdoor kitchens, lanais and pool areas. Outdoor surfaces exposed to weather and cleaning chemicals should still be sealed on a regular schedule.
No. Granite is extremely hard and resists chipping under normal kitchen use. It can chip at an edge if struck with significant force. Proper support during fabrication and installation prevents stress cracks from improper overhang or cabinet gaps.
Yes, and we strongly recommend it. Every granite slab is unique, and the stone you select can look meaningfully different from a 4-inch sample. We pull full slabs at our Auburndale showroom so you see the exact material before the order is placed.
Neither is universally better. Quartz needs no sealing and is more stain-resistant, which makes it lower maintenance for busy kitchens. Granite has a natural, one-of-a-kind look, is UV stable for outdoor use and handles heat better. We walk through this comparison with every client before they decide.
