Porcelain slab is UV stable, resists heat, scratches and stains, and needs no sealing. That makes it the correct choice for Florida outdoor kitchens, lanais and sun-exposed surfaces. We fabricate it in-house at our Auburndale shop.

Gauged porcelain panels are large-format porcelain surfaces fired at extremely high temperatures into a fully vitrified, non-porous material. There are no organic resins or pigments to break down under ultraviolet light, and no porosity for stains, oils or acids to penetrate.
Porcelain is harder than granite but more brittle, so it is more demanding to cut, drill and edge than granite or quartz. We have the equipment and experience to fabricate it correctly in our Auburndale shop. Large panels also allow island tops, wall panels and outdoor counter runs with few or no visible seams.
Lines we carry: Quantum Quartz (porcelain line)
No polymer resins, organic pigments or light-sensitive compounds. Porcelain does not yellow, discolor or degrade under direct sun.
Fired at more than 1,200°C during manufacturing, porcelain handles hot pots, pans and grill proximity without cracking, discoloring or scorching.
Vitrification eliminates porosity. Porcelain does not absorb liquids, oils or bacteria, and there is no sealing at installation or afterwards.
Resistant to acids, alkalis, pool chemicals and cleaning products, which suits pool surrounds, outdoor bars and areas cleaned often.
Panels are often 63 x 126 inches or larger, so islands, outdoor counters and feature walls can be cut with minimal or no seams.
Porcelain slab weighs less per square foot than granite or marble of similar thickness, which helps on decks, elevated bars and lighter cabinetry.

No. Porcelain slab is non-porous and does not require sealing. Maintenance is mild detergent and water, avoiding abrasive products.
Yes. Gauged porcelain panels have their own installation procedures, and manufacturer guidance calls for specialized tools and methods, including full adhesive coverage for certain thicknesses. Cutting and edging need specialized saws, water-jet cutting and edge polishing equipment, which our Auburndale shop has.
Quartz uses polymer resins as a binder, and those resins break down under sustained UV light. Outdoors in Florida, a quartz countertop will begin yellowing within 12 to 36 months. That is a property of the material category, not a defect. Porcelain contains no organic resins, so we do not install quartz outdoors.
Porcelain is harder than granite but more brittle, so a hard impact at an edge can chip it where granite would survive. The edge profile matters: an eased or beveled edge reduces chip risk at corners. We discuss edge profiles for porcelain in the context of where it will be installed.
Yes. Porcelain slab lines use high-resolution printing to replicate Calacatta, Carrara and other marbles. For clients who want the look of marble without the upkeep, and for outdoor spaces where real marble does not belong, a marble-look porcelain is a strong option.
Yes. Manufacturer specifications commonly list porcelain slabs for walls, countertops and fireplace surrounds depending on product and thickness. Ask us about options during your showroom consultation.
Same material, different scale. Floor tile is typically 3 to 12 mm thick and up to 24 x 24 inches. Countertop panels are typically 6 to 12 mm thick and made in very large sizes, often up to 5 x 10 feet, and need fabrication equipment beyond standard tile tools.
