Quartz Countertops — Consistent, Low-Maintenance, and Built for Florida Kitchens

Quartz countertops are the most popular material we install at our Auburndale showroom, and for good reasons that are specifically relevant to Florida homeowners. Quartz is an engineered stone product made from crushed quartz crystals bound with polymer resins. Because it is manufactured rather than quarried, it is non-porous, which means it does not require sealing and resists staining from cooking oils, wine, and acidic foods without any annual maintenance. The consistency of engineered quartz also means the color and pattern you see in the showroom is exactly what you will get on your countertop.

We carry quartz from Pental Quartz, Spectrum Quartz, and MSI at our Auburndale showroom. These brands offer a wide range of colors and finishes from subtle whites and creams to bold dramatic patterns that mimic marble. All quartz countertops are fabricated at our Auburndale shop and installed by our own crew. We install quartz throughout Polk County and as far south as Miami. For countertop materials requiring more natural character, we also carry granite and marble.

Quartz vs Other Materials

How Quartz Compares to Granite and Marble

Quartz Advantages

Quartz requires no annual sealing, making it the lowest-maintenance natural-look countertop material available. It resists chips and cracks better than most natural stones. The non-porous surface is naturally hygienic and does not harbor bacteria. Color and pattern are consistent from piece to piece, so bookmatched countertops on a large kitchen island are achievable without variation between slabs. It handles Florida humidity without issue and performs well in the kitchen conditions Florida homeowners deal with year round.

Where Granite or Marble May Be Better

For homeowners who specifically want the visual character of a natural stone — the unique veining of marble or the mineral movement of a specific granite slab — quartz does not fully replicate that. Quartz is also not recommended for outdoor applications because prolonged UV exposure causes the resin binder to yellow or discolor over time. For outdoor kitchens and lanais, porcelain surfaces or UV-stable granite are better choices.

Where Quartz Countertops Work Best

Kitchen Countertops

Quartz is ideal for kitchen countertops where stain resistance, ease of cleaning, and long-term durability are the primary priorities. No sealing, no special cleaners, and a consistent look across large kitchen surfaces.

Bathroom Vanities

Quartz handles bathroom humidity well and resists water and soap staining. Consistent color is an advantage in bathroom vanity applications where multiple pieces need to match across cabinets.

Kitchen Islands

Large kitchen islands benefit from quartz's consistency across multiple slabs. Waterfall edges and bookmatched patterns are achievable in quartz in ways that are more difficult with natural stone.

Laundry Rooms

Quartz holds up to detergents, bleach splashes, and heavy utility use in laundry rooms better than most natural stone alternatives. It is a durable, practical choice for utility countertop applications.

Home Offices

Custom quartz desk surfaces and built-in workstation countertops are a growing application. Quartz provides a clean, professional look in home office environments without maintenance concerns.

Mudrooms

Drop zones and mudroom countertops take daily abuse from bags, shoes, and outdoor gear. Quartz handles this durably without chipping or staining under normal residential use conditions.

FAQs

Quartz Countertop Questions

No. Quartz is non-porous and does not require sealing at installation or annually thereafter. This is one of the primary practical advantages of quartz over natural stone materials like granite and marble. Regular cleaning with mild soap and water is all that is needed for routine maintenance.
We do not recommend quartz for outdoor applications in Florida. The resin binders in engineered quartz are susceptible to UV degradation, which causes yellowing or discoloration over time under direct sunlight. For outdoor kitchens and lanais, porcelain surfaces or UV-stable granite are better material choices. Visit our porcelain surfaces page for outdoor-appropriate alternatives.
For most Florida kitchens, quartz is the more practical choice because of its low maintenance, stain resistance without sealing, and consistent appearance. Granite is a strong option for homeowners who want unique natural stone character and are willing to commit to annual sealing. Both materials perform well in Florida's indoor conditions. We carry both and can help you compare during your showroom visit.
Yes. All quartz countertops are cut, edged, and finished at our Auburndale fabrication shop. We have been doing in-house stone fabrication since 2018 and do not outsource any part of the process. The team that fabricates your countertop is the same team that installs it.
