Lakeland Countertop Installation
Countertop Installation — Lakeland, FL

We Serve Lakeland for Countertops Through Our Auburndale Shop.

J&A Stone Designs operates two dedicated showrooms in Polk County. Our Lakeland showroom at 5259 Florida Ave S is our flooring-specialist location. For countertops, Lakeland homeowners work with our Auburndale showroom — just 15 miles away at 1057 US Highway 92 W — where our full granite, quartz, marble, and porcelain slab selection is on display and where our fabrication shop operates.

The process for Lakeland homeowners is the same as it is for anyone else: we visit your home first, measure and template your countertop configuration, you select material at the Auburndale showroom, and our team fabricates and installs your countertops. Everything from templating through installation is handled by the same team. Nothing is outsourced to a third-party fabricator.

We have been fabricating countertops in-house since 2018. For Lakeland homeowners, this means your countertop is cut to your kitchen's exact dimensions — not approximated — and installed by the people who made it. Call us at (863) 264-5902 or schedule a free on-site estimate online.

Materials Available to Lakeland Homeowners

Four Countertop Materials — Fabricated & Installed in Lakeland, FL

All four materials are available for selection at our Auburndale showroom. All are fabricated in-house and installed by our crew throughout Lakeland and the surrounding area.

🪨
Granite Countertops
Natural Stone — Unique Per Slab

Granite is a natural stone — no two slabs are identical. It brings genuine character to kitchens and bathrooms that engineered materials cannot replicate. Granite is harder than most engineered surfaces and resists heat well. The trade-off is annual sealing, which we perform at installation and advise on for the maintenance cycle. We source our granite through Preferred Marble & Granite and The Granite Place.

Sealing RequiredYes — annually, we do it at install
Outdoor UseCovered areas — seal more frequently
Heat ResistanceExcellent
Typical Range (installed)$45–80 per sq ft
Suppliers: Preferred Marble & Granite · The Granite Place

Quartz Countertops
Engineered Stone — Low Maintenance

Quartz is the most popular countertop material we install across Polk County, and for good reason: it requires no annual sealing, resists staining without treatment, and comes in consistent color and pattern across large surface areas. For Florida kitchens that see heavy daily use and high humidity, quartz is the most practical choice. The one exception is outdoor use — quartz resin binders can yellow under UV exposure, so for outdoor kitchens or lanais, porcelain is the better call. Brands: Pental Quartz, Spectrum Quartz, MSI.

Sealing RequiredNo — non-porous, no treatment needed
Outdoor UseNot recommended — UV yellowing risk
Heat ResistanceGood — avoid prolonged direct heat
Typical Range (installed)$55–95 per sq ft
Brands: Pental Quartz · Spectrum Quartz · MSI

Marble Countertops
Natural Stone — Premium Aesthetic

Marble brings a visual quality that no other countertop material matches. It is the preferred choice for bathroom vanities, wet bars, and kitchen islands where aesthetic impact is the priority. The honest trade-offs: marble etches from acidic contact (lemon juice, vinegar, certain cleaners) and stains if unsealed. We walk every Lakeland marble client through the full care requirements before any decision is made, because a marble countertop that is not maintained will show wear quickly. For clients who understand and accept the maintenance, the result is exceptional. Sourced through ST Stones.

Sealing RequiredYes — annually, more for high use
Etching RiskYes — acidic substances cause dulling
Best ApplicationBathrooms, islands, lower-use surfaces
Typical Range (installed)$65–115 per sq ft
Supplier: ST Stones

Porcelain Surfaces
Engineered — UV Stable, Outdoor-Safe

Porcelain slab is the only countertop material fully suited to Florida outdoor kitchens and covered lanais. Unlike quartz, porcelain does not contain resin binders — it will not yellow under UV exposure, making it the right call for any countertop that will see direct or indirect sunlight. It is also non-porous (no sealing required), scratch resistant, heat resistant, and available in very large format slabs that allow seamless island and waterfall designs. The fabrication is more technically demanding than other materials — porcelain is extremely hard and requires specialized cutting and edging equipment. Our Auburndale shop has that equipment. Supplied through Quantum Quartz (Porcelain).

Sealing RequiredNo — completely non-porous
Outdoor UseYes — UV stable, best outdoor choice
Heat ResistanceExcellent — handles direct heat
Typical Range (installed)$75–130 per sq ft
Supplier: Quantum Quartz (Porcelain)

How It Works

Our Countertop Process for Lakeland Homeowners

From your first call through installation day, here is exactly what happens — in order. No surprises, no steps handed off to people you haven't met.

01
Free On-Site Estimate

We visit your Lakeland home, assess your countertop configuration, and discuss material options that fit your kitchen layout, usage patterns, and budget. No charge, no obligation.

02
Showroom Visit & Slab Selection

You visit our Auburndale showroom (15 miles from Lakeland) to select material. For granite and marble, you view actual slabs — photographs don't capture the variation in natural stone.

03
Templating

Our team returns to your Lakeland home and creates a precise template of your existing countertop configuration. Every measurement is exact — this is what makes a seamless install possible.

04
In-House Fabrication

Your countertop is cut, edged, and finished at our Auburndale fabrication shop. We fabricate to your template — not to a standard size. The same team that templates handles fabrication.

05
Installation & Walkthrough

We install your countertop in your Lakeland home. We seal natural stone at installation and walk you through the care schedule before we leave. Final walkthrough with you before the job is closed.

Why J&A Stone Designs

Why Lakeland Homeowners Choose Us for Countertop Installation

Most countertop companies are showrooms that hand off fabrication to a third party. We own and operate our fabrication shop — that changes the quality and accountability of every project.

🔧
In-House Fabrication — Since 2018

Our Auburndale shop has cut, edged, and finished every countertop we've sold since we opened. We own our tooling and control our tolerances. When a cut needs to be adjusted, we handle it — there is no separate fabricator to coordinate with.

📐
Template Before We Fabricate

We create a precise physical template at your Lakeland home before we cut anything. This eliminates the fit errors that happen when fabricators work from measurements alone. Your countertop is cut to your kitchen — not approximated.

🌊
Florida-Specific Material Knowledge

Florida's humidity, UV conditions, and heat affect countertop material performance in ways that vary significantly from national guidance. We recommend materials based on how they actually behave in Lakeland and Polk County homes — not based on marketing materials.

🤝
One Team — No Handoffs

The person at the showroom who helps you select material is connected to the fabrication team and the installation crew. When you have a question during the project, you reach the same people. No dropped balls between separate companies.

🪟
Cabinets Coordinated Too

If your Lakeland project includes custom cabinets, we handle that through the Auburndale showroom as well. Cabinets go in before countertop templating — we schedule both so the project runs in the right sequence without unnecessary delays.

📍
15 Miles from Lakeland

Our Auburndale showroom is a 15–20 minute drive from most Lakeland neighborhoods. We visit Lakeland homes for estimates and installation regularly. We know the area and can give you a realistic schedule without vague timelines.

Material Guidance for Lakeland Homes

Choosing a Countertop Material for Your Lakeland Kitchen or Bathroom

Florida homes have specific material demands. Here is how each countertop material performs in the conditions Lakeland homeowners actually live with.

Quartz — Best for Most Lakeland Kitchens
For the majority of Lakeland kitchen countertops, quartz is the most practical and lowest-maintenance choice. It handles Florida's humidity without issue, requires no sealing at installation or annually thereafter, and resists staining from common kitchen spills without any treatment. Pattern and color are consistent across large surface areas — this matters for kitchen islands where you want an uninterrupted visual. The one clear limitation: do not use quartz outdoors or in rooms where it will be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods. The resin binders in engineered quartz can discolor under UV exposure over time. For lanais or outdoor kitchens, see porcelain below.
Granite — Natural Stone with Character
Granite is the right choice for homeowners who want a natural stone surface and understand the maintenance it requires. Annual sealing is not optional — it is what keeps granite stain-resistant. We seal every granite countertop at installation and walk you through the re-sealing schedule before we leave. Granite handles heat better than quartz and can be used in covered outdoor kitchens with more frequent sealing. The variation in natural stone means every granite countertop looks different, which is a feature for clients who value uniqueness and something to plan around for clients who want visual consistency. Both of our granite suppliers — Preferred Marble & Granite and The Granite Place — have strong Polk County track records.
Porcelain — Outdoor Kitchens and Lanais
For Lakeland homeowners with outdoor kitchens, covered lanais, or pool areas, porcelain slab is the correct countertop material. It is the only option in our lineup that is fully UV stable — meaning it will not discolor or degrade from sun exposure the way quartz does. Porcelain is also non-porous (no sealing ever), scratch resistant, and handles Florida's heat extremes without thermal damage. Large-format slabs (up to 126 x 63 inches) allow dramatic waterfall edges and island designs with minimal visible seams. Porcelain requires specialized fabrication — it is extremely hard and will crack if cut incorrectly. Our Auburndale shop has the tooling and experience to fabricate porcelain properly.
Marble — Bathrooms and Feature Surfaces
Marble is the right material for Lakeland homeowners who want the absolute best-looking surface and are willing to maintain it. The honest assessment: marble is not ideal for a busy primary kitchen. Acidic foods and cleaners etch the polished surface, leaving dull marks. Daily cooking splatter from tomato-based sauces, lemon juice, and vinegar will affect the finish over time in a high-use kitchen. Marble performs beautifully in bathrooms, guest kitchens, butler's pantries, wet bars, and kitchen islands that see lighter use. We do not talk Lakeland clients out of marble — we make sure they understand what they are agreeing to maintain before they commit.
FAQ

Countertop Questions from Lakeland Homeowners

Common questions we get from Lakeland homeowners before starting a countertop project.

For quartz, you can review samples at home and select a color with minimal showroom time. For granite and marble — which are natural stones with variation slab to slab — we strongly recommend at least one visit to our Auburndale showroom (15 miles from Lakeland) to view actual slabs under real lighting. Photographs do not accurately represent natural stone. Our Auburndale showroom is open Monday through Friday, 8AM to 4PM.
From initial estimate visit through completed installation, most Lakeland countertop projects take two to four weeks. This covers the estimate visit, your showroom trip and material selection, the templating visit at your home, in-house fabrication at our Auburndale shop, and scheduling the installation crew. We give you a specific timeline during the estimate visit so you can plan around the installation date.
We fabricate all countertops in-house at our Auburndale shop. We have owned and operated our own fabrication equipment since 2018. No third-party fabricators are involved at any stage. The team that templates your Lakeland kitchen is directly connected to the team that cuts and finishes your countertop, and the same people handle installation.
Yes. The on-site estimate visit includes the site visit, measurement, and a written price range. No purchase is required and there is no obligation to proceed. We work in Lakeland regularly — the estimate visit is not a burden to schedule. Call (863) 264-5902 or submit a request online.
Yes. Custom cabinets are also handled through our Auburndale showroom. For a full kitchen renovation involving both cabinets and countertops, we sequence the project correctly: cabinets go in first, countertop templating follows once cabinets are set, then fabrication and installation. This prevents the common problem of measuring for countertops before cabinets are finalized, which leads to gaps and remakes.
Porcelain slab is the correct choice for Florida outdoor kitchens and covered lanais. It is UV stable — meaning it will not discolor under sun exposure the way quartz does. It is also non-porous, heat resistant, and requires no sealing. Granite can be used in covered outdoor settings with more frequent sealing. Quartz should not be used outdoors in Florida due to UV yellowing risk.
Material and installation ranges for Polk County homes: granite $45–80 per sq ft installed, quartz $55–95, marble $65–115, porcelain slab $75–130. A typical kitchen countertop is 30–55 sq ft — so a quartz kitchen runs roughly $1,650–$5,225 before edge profile and cutout complexity. These are ranges, not quotes. An accurate number requires an on-site visit to measure your specific kitchen and confirm any special features like island waterfalls or appliance cutouts.
Yes — flooring is handled through our Lakeland showroom at 5259 Florida Ave S. LVP, porcelain tile, ceramic tile, hardwood, and laminate are all available. If your project involves both countertops and flooring, both teams are part of the same company and we coordinate the scheduling so the right work happens in the right order.
